Skype is a popular voice communicator devised by the creators of the KaZaA program based on a P2P network allowing text messaging, voice and video calling, calling landlines or mobile phones, sending SMS messages and faxing.

The sound quality is outstanding as is the efficiency of 256-bit AES algorithm encryption (Advanced Encryption Standard). Skype installs no spyware components, it is free and makes calling other Skype users possible without additional costs. Only calls to standard phone numbers are subject to fees, however the prices are extremely attractive.

In addition to the possibility to call conventional phones around the world, there is an option of the SkypeIn service in which one may set up a virtual phone number allowing a mobile phone or landline user to call the Skype user himself. Other options include sending SMS messages, rerouting calls to mobile phones or configuring a personal internet number for friends, family and work colleagues so that they can call Skype from ordinary phones at local charge.
